Renault’s F1 president Alain Dassas has admitted that winning a third successive world championship in 2007 is going to be “difficult”. Dassas said: “It is a fact that we are going to miss Fernando because he contributed a lot to help Renault to win these two titles (in 2005 and 2006).”

“We will have to see how the championship develops,” Dassas continued. “Both drivers are very good – they are not Alonso, but they are great drivers. “The biggest uncertainty is Kovalainen,” he said, “He knows what it feels like to win but he is still very young.”

“I am not involved in politics,” he answered, “but I do believe it will be difficult to win the title with Giancarlo.”

Someone’s having reality check and we truly appreciate it ! Also that it is stark in contrast with what Fisichella said earlier.

BMW-Sauber Motorsport director Mario Theissen unveiled ‘Albert 2′ at the team’s Hinwil factory today as he revealed the team were going their own route in opting away from traditional wind tunnel use. “Having two wind tunnels makes no sense to us. We want to be at the top of CFD and in order to be there we need a strong tool. With Albert 2 we have what we need to become the top in aerodynamics.” Dr Theissen said.

The Intel-powered computer is five times more powerful that its predecessor Albert, and is three times faster. Albert 2 can make 12,288,000,000,000 calculations per second. This is the equivalent of more than one million people multiplying two numbers every three seconds for an entire year.

WOW!! Some cracking numbers here !! No doubts super computers are the way of the future & cost effective as well.

Ferrari chiefs have warned Kimi Raikkonen that he must not get up to too much mischief off the track next year. Raikkonen was the subject of much tabloid rumour for his hard-party antics in the past year.

The French Figaro newspaper reported Ferrari boss Jean Todt as saying that if Raikkonen wants to keep on partying as much he’ll have to be more discreet, as he’ll be more in the public spotlight than ever before, driving for Ferrari. Todt did go on to say that he thinks Raikkonen will be up to the challenge of replacing Michael Schumacher.

WOW! Being too foresighted aren’t we ? But then that’s the legacy of Michael and it won’t be easy to shrug-it-off. We think it would be a bit unfair to expect Kimi to behave like Michael, and completely unnatural for him.

“We have a marketing plan, which will surprise a lot of people and get them interested by our approach for next year,” team boss Nick Fry tells Formula1.com. “You will not see a car covered in Honda logos, it will be something very different.”

Fry says they plan to unveil the new car, likely to be dubbed the RA107, in late January. It will run in an all-black livery until the second unveiling prior to the start of the season.

There is a image of Black HondaF1 car along with the above article on TSN.CA, but we are not sure that is what new Honda F1 car will look like [hence not posting that image with this entry]. Will keep you posted on the same subject as and when we’ll get more details.

The Roman, who is staying at Renault for a third consecutive year, also warned Alonso to not be surprised if he struggles to add to his tally of fifteen wins next year.”Everything depends on McLaren, of course,” Fisichella told the Turin-based newspaper La Stampa. He added: “They did not have the best car in 2006 and it is not easy to recover from a bad season.”

“He [Heikki Kovalainen] talks a lot and is quite an extrovert,” Giancarlo said, “which is completely unlike the other Finns we have known in Formula One.” Fisichella said Kovalainen is also “straightforward”, with a “good attitude”.

Now since the issues are sorted out and life is back in normal run, everything is going to come back to normal from tomorrow around here.

“I’m really looking forward to the new season, no question about it. The new car is coming out in the middle of January. Hopefully we won’t have to hold too much back at all, we can get into it and show what the car can really do here in the first race in Melbourne,” Mark Webber said. “I’m looking forward to it when we hit the ground running in January.”

“They [McLaren Mercedes] have not won the title in recent years so I want to help McLaren to find the way back to victory,” the newspaper ‘As Diario’ quoted Alonso as saying. He said he would give Woking based McLaren ‘advice’ about ‘the techniques we used at Renault’.

And to think that Renault won’t have thought about it ?? And not just Renault, with so many drivers changing teams, this would undoubtedly be something every team would have thought about and sorted out.

“My toughest rival won’t be Fernando, but my teammate Felipe Massa,” Kimi Raikkonen told Bild magazine in an interview. “From now on, I’ll see McLaren-Mercedes only in my rear-view mirrors.”

“There are many reasons why in five years I only won nine times,” he added. “Certainly I made a few mistakes too many, but the car was often not consistent enough, simply. I had opted for Ferrari a long time ago, and I’m convinced with this team I will become world champion. That’s my objective, even though it’s hard to say whether I’ll manage that immediately.”

Already basking in the Scarlet color and talking their language ?? Although we also have our own ‘concerns’ regarding Alonso’s decision to move to McLaren given their performance this year, but we are hoping that they can turn around this pretty quickly and we’ll have another interesting season next year.
