Renault pledges winning F1 budget

“We say: ‘It is your responsibility to compete at the top level and win – what is the budget you need?'” said Renault chief Carlos Ghosn. “There are rumours about cost-cutting but we are the second most profitable group in the industry.”

However, Ghosn stressed that Renault boss Flavio Briatore would not be handed unlimited funds and praised Briatore’s ability to get the job done on a relatively small amount of cash. “We don’t need to adapt our strategy to our means, we can adapt our means to our strategy,” he said.
