The team said in a statement that Shuhei Nakamoto, formerly engineering director for Honda Racing Development, had been appointed senior technical director. “Discussions are currently taking place with Geoff Willis, Technical Director, regarding his future role with the team,” it added.

Willis had been expected to take on a more factory-based role to concentrate on the car’s aerodynamic development now that Honda have a new full-scale wind tunnel in operation. Nakamoto has been on Honda Racing F1’s management board since they bought British American Racing last year.
